Nicola Sturgeon helps Highlands gay couple say I do

During a public meeting in Oban Pawel Najda asked the help of First Minister to propose to his boyfriend, Ian Johstone.

Pawel, who kneeled down and with Nicola’s help proposed to Ian, who delighted them both by answering “I do.”

She later took to tweeter stating:

Paul (seen here on one knee) asked me to deliver his marriage proposal to Ian on his behalf. “I’m delighted to report that Ian said yes. Congratulations to them both ❤️❤️”. Ian responded that they are now planning to marry in March:

Earlier this year Nicola Sturgeon celebrated and was a witness to one of Scotland’s first same-sex weddings, of Susan and Gerrie Douglas-Scott.

The First Minister is a strong supporter of LGBTI equality and is committed to fight to preserve the Human Rights Act which protects many of the rights of the community.
