HotScots Football Club, Scotland’s first LGBT-friendly football team, have this week announced a new club sponsorship deal.
The Edinburgh-based club, who last year reached the final of the GFSN Cup, have confirmed their new sponsor is Planet Bar and Chalky’s Late Night Lounge. Chalky’s is one of the city’s leading gay-friendly clubs, while its sister establishment – the Planet Bar – is a smaller gay-friendly pub in the heart of Edinburgh’s Gay Village.
The deal will see HotScots’ home and away strips bearing the bars’ logos whilst increasing custom through HotScots socials, which include post-match events with other LGBT teams within the GFSN League who travel from across the entire UK.
The sponsorship is a big boost for the HotScots, who recently ended their long-running arrangement with Fitlads. The club wishes to acknowledge and thank Fitlads for all their support, which came in many different forms, over the last eight years.
Tom Chalmers, a HotScots FC Committee Member, told KaleidoScot that the new sponsorship arrangement is hugely significant and will enable the club to make further progress. He said: “Everyone at HotScots is excited about the new sponsorship deal, which will support the continued development of the club in order to provide footballing opportunities for all, whilst tackling social barriers through the power of football.”
He added: “This really is big news for us and our sponsors, as it allows us to work collaboratively to make the positive change we want.”
